CYC works with some 500 voluntary youth groups in the greater Dublin area. Youth clubs and youth groups provide an invaluable resource for youth people in many areas. They are largely delivered through the voluntary effort of committed adults, supported by the staff of the youth service and its local regional youth services.

Youth clubs and groups are

    locally based,
voluntary (both for the young people and for the volunteer/leader),
youth clubs are engaged in a non- formal education process with young people
offer recreational and educational activities for young people,
providing a voice and a role for young people.

Young people benefit by,

    new activities and opportunities
a place to go to and meet other young people
    informal and non formal learning
    advice and information
Positive changes ( positive personal development )
    Relationships and respect.
Growth of positive esteem in young people
    positive experiences
    positive behaviour
    Positive influences and social integration
    learning from experience.

The community benefits

by developing the social capital of young people-
    by creating community leaders,
by providing a place and a space for its young people
