Volunteering in the youth service
Volunteering is the most important way in which you can express your citizenship and philanthropy in our society. By offering your time, energy and skills ,you are investing in the future of your own children and your own community. It is being a good neighbour, transforming a group of people or houses into a community. It is saying that by working together we can transform our area into a place which cares, which looks after it own people. By volunteering you can increase your own skills, gain knowledge, and make friends; but also you can also decrease suffering, make people happy and tackle poverty and disadvantage in a significant ways.
Every day, thousands of people voluntarily give their time and talent to thousands of organizations in Ireland. They give their time freely and with no expectation of monetary reward. By the very fact that they volunteer, they ensure that projects can start and be maintained. Volunteers keep thousands of projects alive in Ireland. Without a voluntary input, many of these ptojects – for the elderly, for the disabled, for young people would not be able to start, let alone continue. You can volunteer to help out in youth clubs, summer projects, working with young travellers, in faith communities and in parishes.
